Circle of Grenser, Clarinet in C, c.1810, Dresden
A boxwood clarinet with block mounts and 5 brass keys.? Missing both the barrel and mouthpiece.? The body is made in three joints -? plus the bell.? All of the joints are stamped “C”, and the upper and lower body joints are also stamped with a crown device over “DRESDEN”.? The bell is not marked.? There are no cracks evident. The upper and middle joints are pretty well jammed up on their string wraps-we couldn’t separate them. The total length from the end of the bell to the to the end of the top tenon is 486mm.? The length from the end of the bell to the end of the upper joint (excluding the tenon) is 464mm.?
