a Stradivari model by a fine American maker and student of George Gemunder (he also worked for H. R. Knopf and Rudolph Wurlitzer). It is signed by the maker on the upper inside table: F. Barstow/ New York, The two-piece back is a bold medium curl descending from the center joint. The two-piece spruce table is of medium grain broadening towards the flanks. The varnish is a red-brown over yellow ground. Measurements: Length of Back: 357 mm, Upper Bouts: 167 mm, Middle Bouts: 112 mm, Lower Bouts: 206 mm.
