Francois Breton, Violin, c.1890, Mirecourt
A violin made by Francois Breton in Mirecourt, c. 1890. The one-piece maple back is of narrow medium curl descending from left to right with a sculpted button. The two-piece spruce table is of fine grain broadening towards the flanks. The varnish is an even orange brown color over a golden yellow ground. Measurements: Length of Back: 358 mm, Upper Bouts: 170 mm, Middle Bouts: 115 mm, Lower Bouts: 207 mm.
