August Gemunder & Sons, Violin, 1908, New York
A beautifully antiqued Stradivari model “Gemunder Art” violin made by the firm of August Gemunder & Sons of New York in 1908. The two-piece maple back is of narrow curl descending very slightly from the center joint. The two-piece spruce table is of mostly medium grain. The varnish is a deep reddish brown color over an antiqued yellow ground. Measurements: Length of Back: 358 mm, Upper Bouts: 165 mm, Middle Bouts: 111 mm, Lower Bouts: 208 mm.
