Harmony, Roy Smeck Soprano, Ukulele, c.1950s
Harmony made large numbers of these ukes as low budget instruments. However, many have likely been crushd by active toddlers over the years. We are fortunate to find survivors because the bodies are made of solid mahogany. True, the fingerboard is hard platic (with a 0 fret!), and the original tuners were absolutely horrible. We improved the setup a bit by centering the bridge and replacing the tuners with nice new Grover friction pegs. So, now it works! Above all, it sounds really nice. That’s the beauty of the older, solid mahogany body. Measurements: nut width is 1-3/8″, Scale length is 13″. New gig bag included.
