Gibson, A-2 Z, Mandolin, 1923
This is rare black-top A-2Z, with the double soundhole rings like on many of the early A-2 Zs, and the square-ended cheaper tuners. It has a snakehead peghead with “The Gibson” inlaid in pearl on the head and an adjustable truss-rod and adjustable bridge. This mandolin has a two-piece birch back, a black top finish with the top, back, and fingerboard with white bindings. There is a small area of fill/retouch just below the treble side of the rosette which is original but missing the pickguard. It is otherwise in excellent condition and includes the original green-lined hard case. Plays & sounds great.
