Busson, attributed to and probably by, Flutina, c.1850, Paris
This very special and rare flutina is is part of a set that includes a box outfitted to hold six additional reed pans so that the instrument can be played in different keys. The additional reed pans are in their own fitted box, and this along with the Flutina fit into a larger carrying box.The 6-fold bellows are made with marbled papers and are in fair condition. There are 23 keys altogether – with two missing their pearl touches and one with a replaced pearl touch. The hole covers are round pearl . The vent key on the bottom side has been replaced. The box is finished with ebony toned veneers.
