Gibson, 1028 Ray Whitley Recording King, Guitar, 1941
The Ray Whitley model was made in relatively small numbers by Gibson. The top is Adirondack spruce with a sunburst finish and a figured tortoise colored plastic pickguard. The top is braced with an X-brace and two non-scalloped tone-bars. The back and sides are mahogany. The V-shaped neck is mahogany with a bound rosewood fingerboard, and 3-in-line Kluson open tuners with amber buttons (one replaced button). In excellent and original condition; no cracks, nice action, strap button in the heel of the neck, original metal strap-tender at the endpin but missing the one at the back of the head. Measurements: 24.9″ scale, 1-34″ nut. Relatively new brown hardshell case included.
