Epiphone, Epiphone Deluxe, Guitar, c.1933, New York
A rare example of the legendary Epiphone Masterbilt DeLuxe archtop of the early 1930s. The back and sides are of maple with quilted pattern in the back and nice curl in the sides. The top is nice, even-grained spruce. The bound fingerboard is rosewood with pearl inlays. The ebony headstock overlay sets off the pearl banners and floral inlays. This top has been expertly refinished by guitar maker Bill Comins, with the color matching the back and sides. The sides and neck have some gloss overspray. There is a filled crack following a grain line at the top of the back The gold plated tuners and trapeze tailpiece are original. Period tan hard case.
