In 1980, five musicians went into the Arch Street Studio in Berkeley, CA and Bluegrass recording history was made. “The Bluegrass Album” with Tony Rice, J.D. Crowe, Bobby Hicks, Doyle Lawson and Todd Phillips redefined the direction of the music for the next generation. The banjo pictured on the cover and recorded on the Bluegrass Album was a prewar Gibson RB-3 that has been with Saga for more than 30 years. Five years in the making, Saga has recreated that banjo as the Goldstar GF100JD.

Some of the details you?ll want to know: V-shaped mahogany neck with a single action truss rod with a Santos fingerboard and 4:1 pancake style planetary tuners; flat head style mahogany pot with a zinc-alloy one-piece flange and no-hole cast flathead tone ring, as well as double coordinator rods and a Presto tailpiece; deeply arched tapered wall resonator with twin purfling rings. The nut width is 1-3/16″ and the scale is 26-1/4″. Superior hardshell case included. https://youtu.be/m8tQeetcEt0
